Introduction:
This is a one-year full time course that will enable students to gain employment in the security industry. The points from this course can be used to gain entry to certain third level courses.

- Garda Preparation Course (Workshops)

- Behavioural Studies
- Word Processing
- Safe Pass Course (Optional)
- Customer Service
- Self Defence (Workshops)
- First-Aid
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have the Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Mature students are also welcome. Places on this course will be allocated on the basis of results and interviews.
Career Opportunities:
Students who complete this course may find opportunities in many parts of the security industry including public bodies such as An Garda, Defence Forces, Door Security, Industrial or Retail Security, Event Security & Airport Police.
Work Experience:
One day a week will be spent in the security field. This will introduce and prepare students for employment in their chosen areas and enable them to form links with local industry.
Garda Vetting:
Satisfactory Garda Vetting is a mandatory part of completing registration for this programme. Failure to obtain satisfactory Garda Vetting may result in de-registration.
Course Fees:
In addition to the college fees of €150, there will be additional fees for First-Aid, Workshops and a Security Top.
Certification:
Students who complete the course successfully qualify for:
- A FETAC (Level 5) award in Security Studies – CSSSX
- A College Certificate
- A First-Aid Certificate
- A Safe Pass Certificate
