Introduction:

This one-year full-time course is aimed at providing students with a solid foundation in Retail Administration, Retail Selling and Visual Merchandising such as shop displays and signage.

Course Aims:

Students of Retail Management are prepared for careers across the retail sector – gaining valuable specific retail business understanding and marketable skills. Whether in booming or contracting economies investment in retail management skills will always be a major pillar of business success – from small independent retailers to the large multinational operations.

It is about giving the customer what they want. To know what that is and how to deliver it effectively is the key.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants should have the Leaving Certificate or equivalent, with a grade “D” or higher in at least FIVE subjects. Mature students may also apply. Selection of suitable candidates will be based on interviews which will be held in August.

Career Opportunities:

Holders of this award may seek direct employment in the Retail and Commercial Sector. There are also opportunities for further studies through the Links Scheme or through the CAO system.

Work Experience:

Students are placed with appropriate commercial firms one day per week during the year.

Course Fees:

A fee of €150 applies on registration.

Certification:

Students who complete the course successfully qualify for:

  • A FETAC (Level 5) award in Retail Studies – BSRXX
  • A College Certificate
