Multimedia - Graphic Design - EMMPX

Introduction:

This exciting one-year course allows students to develop skills and talents in Movie Production, Graphic Design, Radio Production, Animation, Web Development, and much more. Students will learn how to display their creation on DVD, CD and Web Sites. Emphasis will be placed on the use of modern computer software to enhance and augment student work. The points from this course can also be used to gain access to certain third level courses.

Course Content:

• Radio Programme Production: Provides the learner with comprehensive introduction to radio broadcasting. Develop the skills necessary for the pre-production, production and post-production of radio programming
• Multimedia Project Development: Provides the learner with knowledge and skill to plan and oversee the progress of a design project
• Graphic Design: Gives the learner the opportunity to work with lettering and images to create original designs from initial design to finished print
• Communications: Giving and exchanging of information with particular reference to multimedia
• Desktop Publishing: Design, print and publish various documents using text and graphics. It incorporates analysis, process, craft, technology and design elements in a comprehensive treatment
• Movie Production: Allows the students to develop talents in creating, editing and displaying digital movies. Emphasis will be placed on creativity and students will be encouraged to design new movie concepts
• Animation: Exciting, innovative, creative and immensely satisfying module that students will enjoy
• Web Page Authoring: Design, create and publish web pages of a high quality on the Web

Entry Requirements:

Applicants should hold the Leaving Certificate or equivalent. This course is also open to mature students. Suitable candidates for the course will be selected by interview.

Career Opportunities:

Animation, Sound Engineering, Film Production, Radio Production, Games Development, Graphic Design. Graduates of this Multimedia course may progress to Higher Education institutions to further their studies or may go directly to work in this exciting industry.

Work Experience:

One day a week will be spent on work experience. This will introduce and prepare students for employment in their chosen areas and enable them to form links with local industry.

Registration fee of €150 applies.

Certification:

Students who complete the course successfully qualify for:

• A FETAC (Level 5) award in Multimedia Production – EMMPX
• A College Certificate
