Introduction:
This is a one-year full-time course that will help the student to gain employment in industry in the area of Information Technology. The points from this course can be used to gain entry into related third-level courses through “The Higher Education Links System”.
The course provides an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue higher education while providing the learner with both the theoretical and practical skills needed for work in the IT industry.
There is a well-balanced mix of theory and practical work involved.

Entry Requirements:
Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Places are limited and will be allocated on the basis of results, general interest and interview. Mature students are welcome.
Career Opportunities:
Employers in the computer industry, Institutes of Technology and some Universities recognise this FETAC award. Therefore attractive, well-paid positions are available to those who complete the course successfully. Students who have gone on to higher education have found the course to be very beneficial and recognise the benefits of gaining a good understanding of I.T. concepts before pursuing higher education in I.T. related fields.
Work Experience:
One day per week will be spent on related work experience. This introduces and prepares students for employment in the area of IT and enables them to form links with local industry.

A fee of €150 applies on registration.
Certification:
Students who complete the course successfully qualify for:
- A FETAC (Level 5) award in Information Technology – CITXX
- A College Certificate
