Introduction:The course provides for students who wish to develop pre-apprenticeship skills, pursue employment in the Building Industry or advance to further education. It aims to familiarise students with the work environment of the Building Industry and to prepare them for whole world work. The FÁS ‘Safe Pass’ legal requirement for the Building Industry will form an optional part of the course. The course is linked to Third Level Institutes for students who wish to pursue higher education. Course Content:
Entry Requirements:Applicants should have the Leaving Certificate or equivalent, references and attend for an interview. Career Opportunities:Successful students may achieve apprenticeships in the following trades: Carpentry and Joinery, Interior Design, Wood Craft, Wood Turning, Painting & Decorating, Surveying, Draughting etc. Work Experience:One day a week will be spent on work experience. This will introduce and prepare students for employment in their chosen areas and enable them to form links with local industry. Course Fees:Fees of €150 applies on registration.
